A few additional details about The Campaign for St. Matthew’s:
How is this Capital Campaign different from our annual Stewardship Campaign?
- Annual stewardship funds the operating budget, builds cash reserves and finances special initiatives in the calendar year.
- The capital campaign finances long-term items, such as the construction of new buildings, renovation of existing buildings and major infrastructure improvements.
- Stewardship gifts typically come from personal income.
- Capital campaign gifts are often made from other assets that offer tax benefits and can be spread over a three-year period.
Which areas on campus will be impacted as a result of funds gifted to The Campaign for St. Matthew’s?
Buildings in need of upgraded infrastructure and redesign to accommodate our growing needs include:
- Founders Hall
- Administrative Courtyard
- Caretaker’s House
- Columbarium
- Grounds and Gardens
Are the renderings in the brochures final?
- These are conceptual renderings. We will have many opportunities for continuing conversation before designs are finalized.

Why does the Columbarium need to be upgraded?
- The Columbarium is running out of space. We want to offer Columbarium niches for many future generations.
- The sale of additional niches will help fund its maintenance costs, as will dedicated endowment funds raised in the Campaign.
- Columbarium infrastructure and maintenance issues must be addressed very soon.
What about the endowment?
- Our current endowment of $600,000 is insufficient for a parish of our size.
- Investment returns do not cover maintenance of Parish grounds and programs.
- Another Campaign goal is to increase it to at least $5 million over the next five years and gifts may be designated specifically toward our endowment.
How long will implementation take?
- We estimate five years to complete all projects.
What are some of the ways I can donate to the campaign?
- You can give one lump sum of any size.
- You can spread your payments over three years – monthly quarterly, annually – whatever works for you.
- You can make a gift of appreciated stock or a ‘legacy gift’ with a bequest to St. Matthew’s in estate planning.
- Please see additional information under Ways to Give.
