Campaign Goals
ACCESSIBILITY
As people enter the campus and make their way to our facilities, a clearly marked, easily accessible entry near the church will lead the way. People with every degree of mobility will be invited toward offices and meeting rooms to participate in activities – no longer restricted to a few minimal locations on campus – and newcomers will be able to find the reception desk without a map.
AVAILABILITY
Small groups who pray, plan and play together will have ample room for their activities – as will groups that need much greater capacity to convene for lunches, classes, seminars, speakers and Vestry meetings. Dedicated meeting locations will alleviate the constant competition for our current options and some staff offices will also convert to parishioner spaces after office hours!
MODERNITY
We want to update all of our infrastructure: Parish offices will be in one, central location and all of our spaces will finally be equipped with air conditioning and heating. Structural elements that have long battled the environment will be restored and the aging, vacant residence on our grounds will be revamped, to offer an attractive home for clergy and young church professionals during their time at St. Matthew’s.
CREATIVITY
The interior of Founders Hall will be reconstructed to become a family-focused center for formation. Programs for children, such as Parent/Toddler classes, Godly Play and Boy Scout meetings, will enjoy up-to-date, comfortable settings to meet the needs of their varied and vibrant activities. Whether taking first steps or earning merit badges, our youngest community members – and the programs serving them – will have room to grow within the cherished walls of Founders Hall.
ETERNITY
Our cherished Columbarium will remain a sacred space and will include a newly designed worship area to accommodate services within its gardens. The Columbarium itself will be fortified and made secure so that it will endure for generations to come, protected from unseen environmental conditions that threaten its survival. The currently full Columbarium will also be expanded to provide homes for future generations. To ensure that these projects continue to support our community through the years, we seek to increase our endowment to a level that adequately provides for upkeep.
