The Labyrinth Group (Co-ed)

The Advent Labyrinth GroupMondays: 2/23 through 3/30 7:00 am – 8:30 am

The weeks leading up to Christmas can be a blur of “to-dos” and “gotta-get-dones,” leaving us physically and spiritually exhausted by Christmas day.  Make time for quiet reflection and prayer, and encountering the Gospel readings of Advent by joining the Advent Labyrinth group.  The group uses Lectio Divina, a contemplative way of exploring scripture together and walks St. Matthew’s own Labyrinth, then gathers in small groups to discuss their reflections. All are invited to join!

Transitions (Women)

Transitions GroupTuesday Mornings: 8:15 am – 9:30 am

For all of us, life is a process of beginnings, endings, and of course, resurrections.  A life transition can be positive or negative, planned or unexpected.  The changes can be as varied as preparing for an empty nest, relocating, care giving or career changes.  This group will work to take new steps of faith to equip us for life’s transitions.

Co-ed Evening Group

Tuesday Evenings 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

This group meets in the Chapel; drawing closer to the Divine, through study, worship, service and praying together.

No More Perfect Moms (Women)

Wednesday Mornings: 8:30 am – 9:45 am

We are a small group whose primary focus is supporting each other as we try to reconcile the pressures of being a Westside Mom (working or not) on a spiritual path (wherever you are on that path).  Together, we laugh a lot, challenge ourselves, renew ourselves, and grow ourselves, and deepen our relationships with God, our spouses, our children and each other!

Yoga Emmaus

Thursdays 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Come stretch your body and your spirit in the return of the very popular Yoga Emmaus Group.  We will begin with a 45 minute yoga session for all levels lead by our very own Teresa Power (a professional yoga instructor, author of best selling book "ABCs of Yoga for Kids", and former St. Matthew's pre-school yoga teacher).  This will be followed by reflection on the readings for the upcoming Sunday.
* there will be a fee for our yoga instructor

Thursday Morning Early Birds (Men)

Thursday Mornings: 7:00 am – 8:30 am

It’s the earliest group in town!  We meet Thursday mornings from 7:00AM to 8:30AM for fellowship, prayer and study. Our primary purpose is to explore strategies to draw closer to God, deeper in faith and to serve others.

Thursday Morning Co-ed Group I

EmmausThursday Mornings: 7:30 am – 9:00 am

This lively co-ed group of older members of our congregation, led by Sarah Adams and Nancy von Oeyen, is an early morning group that uses contemporary texts along with scripture to further personal growth in holiness and wholeness. Prayer and service are an important part of this small group’s life.

Thursday Morning Co-ed Group II

Thursday Mornings: 7:30 am – 9:00 am

This co-ed group emerged from the Sarah Adams Thursday morning group and now is one of 2 (the other now Sarah Adams and Nancy von Oeyen). This group focuses on readings and discussions that center on the exploration of the traditional and emerging views of Christianity, and, more broadly our personal spiritual “journeys”, and how our faith is interpreted in our daily lives.

Thursday Morning Women’s Group

EmmausThursday Mornings: 8:00 am – 9:30 am

This group begins the day "on the road to Emmaus."  All are welcome to join us as we study, discuss and seek to understand God’s word in our lives. We are committed to building relationships with each other sharing our joys and challenges with each other as we reach out to the larger community with meaningful service projects.

Friday Morning Women's Group

Friday Mornings 9:00 am – 10:30 am

The Thursday Morning Women’s Group explores Christian faith in our everyday world.  We read the Collect and the Gospel for the forthcoming Sunday and discuss briefly its message as it relates to our lives.  We also discuss one short chapter every week from group-approved Christian books (such as The Gift of Years, Growing Older Gracefully by Joan Chittister) to learn the applications of concepts from each chapter.  Through our weekly fellowship, prayer and study of the scriptures and books, we become devoted to caring for each other, as well as to performing missional service to communities both “on-campus” and beyond our neighborhood.
