Saint Matthew’s Parish Fellowship CommissionThe Fellowship Commission is intended as a place of hospitality and friendship for parishioners, and acts as an ambassador or greeter for those new to Saint Matthew’s. The Commission hosts several social events during the year to promote fellowship within the church community, and to help new parishioners deepen their sense of relationship in our parish. Whether serving as members of the Fellowship Commission or attending an event which we sponsor, we are often the first social experience for many members of the parish. Fellowship Events & ActivitiesFoyer Group Kick-Off DinnerThe popular Foyer Group program puts interested people into randomly selected groups to foster fellowship in the parish. The groups meet once a month at each other’s homes. The Fellowship Commission prepares a kick-off dinner in the fall to provide these groups their first opportunity to meet and plan their first dinner.
Christmas LuncheonThe holiday season kicks off on a high note at this delightful luncheon held in the Sprague Center. The Fellowship Commission hosts a festive meal replete with crystal, china and linens. Entertainment is provided by the 1st grade class of Saint Matthew’s Parish School and the parish’s own Sultans of String.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Lenten Soup NightsThe Lenten Soup Night series provides an opportunity for participants to gather together in community to call to mind the solemnity of the season of Lent, to study and to share a simple communal meal. The Fellowship Commission provides the meal for these evenings.
Maundy Thursday Foot Washing and Pre-Service SupperThis event takes place the Thursday before Easter to commemorate the Last Supper and to reenact Jesus’ washing of his disciples’ feet. After a simple and solemn meal and the ceremonial foot washing, the evening will conclude with the 7:30 pm celebration of the Maundy Thursday Liturgy in the Church.
